The conference represented the second opportunity for exchanging expert and scientific information about cassava from the farmers to the consumers - in particular for the global South members and it facilitated the exchanges amongst key cassava stakeholders such as farmers, end-users, researchers, and private sector and donor representatives.

The conference increased awareness of the importance of cassava in the world and in Africa in particular, reviewing recent scientific progress, identifying and setting priorities for new opportunities and challenges, as well as providing access to information for global donors and policy makers.

The Second GCP21 Scientific Conference, organized with the members of the National Crop Resources Research Institute from Namulonge, Uganda, has been evaluated as a "highly successful or very successful" venue by 97% of the attendants who responded to the survey.
